More Cowbell Mash-up #5: Writing and Blogging It Forward

It’s Monday and time for a very special More Cowbell Mash-up: Graduation Day.

A whole group of writers got together at the beginning of March to take a class from Kristen Lamb on Building An Author Brand.  Little did we know that this class would make us explore our passions, our fears, our creativity and our ability to not run bawling in the face of new technology. I’ll confess that I had a few technology moments myself, and I’m the software trainer!

At the end of the month, even though several of us had launched our blogs, we still weren’t done. Our class had become an “all for one and one for all” experience and we didn’t want to stop until everyone that wanted a blog had an amazing one.

The fantastic Bob Mayer, one of the masterminds behind the Write It Forward workshops, gave Kristen the go-ahead to extend our course for another month. What a treasure that was! (Speaking of Bob Mayer, if you haven’t read his blog on What It Takes To Succeed in Self-Publishing, you’re missing out. Get thee to that link!)

This mash-up is a serenade of thanks and glowing pride to Kristen and my fellow classmates. Without each of them, it is a pretty sure bet you wouldn’t be reading this blog.

That same shout-out goes to my critique partners at Writers In The Storm. They were the ones that helped me learn to blog in the first place.

Whenever you worry that you are walking a solitary journey, reach out for support from one of these amazing writers. I know from first-hand experience…they ROCK!

Incidentally, Kristen will be teaching an on-line Building Your Author Brand with Social Media Class course May 9-13, 2011 (for only $15) to support the Long Island Romance Writers. I’d recommend you get in on any Kristen class you can.

So, enough about me and my pals…what class/book/group has helped you with your writing efforts lately?

Last but not least, remember that I LOVE comments! To show that love, I launched the Let’s Meet Up (for Training) contest this month. Between now and May 17th, everyone who leaves a comment I will put your name in a hat. If you comment and link back to my blog on your blog, you get your name in the hat twice. Everyone who does not win a spot in the May webinar will be entered in the June webinar. Same thing for July. There are forty-five spots for the taking and I want to see one of them go to everyone who wants one!

See you tomorrow for Techie Tuesday!

  1. VERY NICE! I had so much fun as a legitimate part of the WANA group, and just as much lurking during the second half, I’m glad to be part of the new cadre. Or could we be a posse? Hunting down the blogging bad guys and bringing ’em to justice? Perhaps I’ve already had too much coffee?

Thanks, Damien. Love the use of “cadre!” I just don’t get to hear enough of that word.

I think we definitely qualify as a WANA Posse…Now if Tiffany can just forgive me for being blonde and tired….

  2. I’m crying – I’m not worthy of a graduate title anyway. 🙂

You are so funny…you are a stellar graduate. I got half those sites from your site at midnight last night. At 7:30 am this morning, driving in L.A. traffic, my eyes popped open when I realized I hadn’t actually grabbed YOUR site too.

My first thought was, “Gack! Move, traffic…MOVE. I’ve gotta add Tif!”

Sorry – you are on now. 🙂

      Angela,

If your ‘tweeter’ is impaired, click Twitter in the sidebar here and go read the blogs. Those 3-4 should be enough to get you up and running.
