About Jenny Hansen

Jenny fills her nights with humor: writing memoir, women’s fiction, chick lit, short stories (and playing on the floor with her toddler baby girl). By day, she provides training and social media marketing for an accounting firm. After 18 years as a corporate software trainer, she’s digging this sit down and write thing.

Jenny is an avid seeker of “more”…More words, more creativity, More Cowbell! Finding those qualities that are unique in every person and every piece of fiction gets her all fired up. Whether it’s words or skills, hobbies or jobs, Jenny wants to hear more about your “COWBELL.”

Find Jenny on Twitter at JennyHansenCA or over on the Writers In The Storm blog.

Notes from Jenny about what you might see on More Cowbell:

This is a very loose list because exciting events might upset the schedule but here is what I’m up to MOST of the time….

More Cowbell Monday – Monday is when we laugh our guts out. It might be an installment of the Undie Chronicles or a discussion of the latest crazy book I’ve found.

Techie Tuesday – Tuesday posts are rarer these days, but they’re usually about cool technology or the technical points of writing / branding. My current fave here is 5 Great Bits of Wisdom From a New York Times Bestseller.

“W” Days – I don’t often post on Wednesdays or Weekends (except for Risky Baby Business on Saturdays!) so when I do, it could be ANYTHING. My fave so far is What Scares You The Most?

Thoughty Thursday – Thursdays are about whatever’s on my mind that week. It’s nearly always a thought provoking post. My fave so far is Are You The Hand You Think You Are?

Lovin’ Fridays – I rarely post on Fridays, but if I do it might be about weekend dates, the Key to Man-Speak, or the do’s and dont’s of dating. It could just be a Love-Fest for my More Cowbell readers. I think the most hilarious so far is Embarrassing Dating Moments – Part 2.

Risky Baby Business  – Saturdays are all about babies here at More Cowbell. It might be something serious like When Pregnancy Goes Awry or something lighthearted like Because Sometimes Pregnancy’s Funny. But, if we post on Saturdays, it will always be a topic surrounding getting, finding, or caring for babies.

Sunday Updates – Sundays are rare, but when I participate, it’s to update and encourage my pals at Kait Nolan’s groovy brainchild: A Round of Words In 80 Days (ROW80).

Please let me know if you have other favorite posts OR blog ideas for me to tackle… I’m all about MORE!

Since I couldn’t sleep, I found your blog through my dusty WordPress account. lol. I’ll be updating it next week – I put myself on this “plan” and stage 1 is almost done. That being one more poetry e-book to finish and then I’m back to the novel WIP and assorted short stories. Looking forward to reading your blog. I have a brand heating up for ya! :p

  6. FINALLY I’ve found a women’s fiction writer in the bloggosphere! I’m sure there are plenty but lately it seems paranormal and YA are all the rage. As for my cobwell, I guess its being a Canadian girl who grew up in countryside and decided to move to the Capital of Europe….which also happens to be the capital in chocolate! 🙂 Looking forward to reading your blog.

    Hola Jenny:

Funny, I was just thinking today about an Excel workshop since I love Excel for keeping track of everything in my life, including my writing toolkit. I love hyperlinking, it saves oodles of time and keeps everthing two degrees within reach!

  14. Hi Jenny. Came over to check out your Triberr post. You need a cool masthead for Cowbell to go with the fun, hip writing style. Email me if you want some designer suggestions; I’m an advertising creative director so know lots of freelancers who are good and won’t charge you a million dollars for great graphics.

  31. Hi Jenny,
Would you be willing to participate in something we are doing for Susie Lindau on Friday morning? I am contacting as many of her followers as possible. My thought is that we all post on our own blogs on Friday with the same title, “Susie Strong”. The content would say something simple like, We are thinking of you. I haven’t known Susie for long but this blogging world is such a family. I thought it would be nice for her to see this message from as many of us as possible. Her husband is going to be updating us after her surgery. He can tell her or she can see it once she is up to it. Are you in? Thanks, Maria aka brickhousechick

Thanks, Aerobabe! (Love that moniker.) We like to get our laugh on over here — I hope you come join us. 🙂

That SNL skit was exactly the reason for the blog name. (We like to “really use our studio space.) I’m always happy to meet another fan.

Awww, thanks Eric! More Cowbell is VERY different. If you’re like me and have the humor meter of a 15 year-old boy, with a slice of “thoughty” on the side, you’ll love hanging out with us over here. Thanks for making the “scary commitment.”

Love your blog and articles. Very helpful and useful for getting part some serious writer’s block.
Good layout of pages, too. Easy to read and not too busy on the eye.
I appreciate the straightforward discussion about writing erotic and sex scenes. They can be difficult to get right, and horrible if you write it wrong.
