Happy Birthday to Me!

Birthday Cake

I love my birthday. I always have. It’s not about the presents. It’s not (really) about the cake.

When I think of birthday gifts, I think of the people. Spending time with my husband while the kidlet is in school. Sweet Facebook messages. Hanging with the More Cowbell Posse here at the blog. Those are the things I like, so those are the things I do on my birthday.

Plus I worked more than 80 hours last week to get all my biggest deadlines met before today.

So, that’s the part that is tangible. What about the situations I have less control over, or the things I’m grateful for?

  • The good health my family and I are enjoying.
  • The cooler weather we are finally getting here in Southern California.
  • Being alive and blood clot free these last 10 years since my blood clot extravaganza.
  • Having a happy child.
  • Being employed.
  • Doing NaNoWriMo with my pals. I’m 10K off the pace and I don’t care (much) because I’m having a grand time.

My Girl
My gardenThere’s a massage booked at 10:30 am (thanks, Honey!), lunch with the Hubs, and my girlie has dance tonight, which I love to watch. I’ll putter in my garden, and check in with my pals. I’ll sit and read a book with a steaming cup of coffee at my side.

I have many little moments to appreciate, which equals big plans for the day. Big plans. 🙂

What do you do on your birthday, that you might not do the rest of the year? Do you give yourself a gift like I do? Enquiring minds love to know these things here at More Cowbell!

I’very been very bad about celebrating my birthday, since my youngest son was born the day before. However, I’m getting better, and I plan to give myself a great birthday next April!

Happy birthday dear friend. I’m so grateful for the gift of the internet. Life gets busy and I drift away into the latest crises, but when the clouds part and I come back, here you are, ringing the cowbell and keeping us up with the latest in the world of undies. I hope today is absolutely wonderful!

I adore the internet! Would I know half the cool people I know? No, I would not. Thanks for ringing that cowbell with me – it wouldn’t be half as fun without you. 🙂

Happy Birthday tooo yooou! (You should be glad you can’t hear me sing!)

I like to call them UN-birthdays. You don’t get any older, but you can still eat cake and get prezzies.

    Enjoy your day.

You are such a brilliant shining light in real life and online and I wish you more of the same happiness, love, and joy you’re feeling today. All good things to you, Jenny!

Okay, I’m not gonna lie, my birthdays usually revolve around cake. Lots and lots of cake. 😉

I might need to make a chocolate cake today!! My girl was totally on board with that, and was quite put out that I did not make a cake yesterday.

And thank y ou so much for these VERY sweet birthday wishes. You have a pal further down the comments (Sue) who likes your style. She’s a major cake fan too. 🙂

So glad you’re finding rainbows everywhere 🙂 glad you’re finding gratitude in the big and little things, sending you good vibes on your birthday and hope it’s awesome 🙂 I had a big one this year … Joined the 4-0 Club and had all this worry/anxiety but turned out pretty great (went skydiving for the 1st time) it was a good day from sunrise to sunset and I was grateful for that … to have one day where I was happy alllllll day. Wishing you some all-day happiness too.

Aw, Happy Happy Birthday, Jenny! Glad your deadlines are behind you and you got to relax and enjoy your special day! I don’t make a big deal on my birthday. I like to have a relaxing, kicked back day at home. My next birthday will be a special one, though. Hitting the big 6-0 and looking forward to it because I’ll be starting my new career as a health and wellness coach. I would really like to celebrate by doing a cartwheel, but my knee is injured and I’m thinking my body will act as young as I feel. Silly girl! I hope you’re feeling younger than ever and I lift my glass to celebrate your ten years of being blood clot free! Baby Girl gets cuter and cuter!
