What Is UP at More Cowbell?

Undie Chronicles

The short answer to the title question is: not as much lately. Y’all have been a bit neglected of late. I’ve had two hilarious Undie Chronicles on deck for three weeks now, with not so much time to write them because I’ve been writing other things. LOTS of other things.

Perhaps the question circling your noggin now is:
What could Jenny be writing that’s more important than ‘Scratch and Sniff Undies?’

[What? That wasn’t your question?]

I’m deep in edits on my book.

My pals got sick of me just calling it “the nun book” so it became A SISTER IN NEED, which won the Rising Star contest last year. The current working title is ROSARIES MAKE BAD THONGS. (We might do a title vote here at More Cowbell before it’s all said and done.) I’m sending out sections of it to beta readers and getting it ready to hand over to an editor.

I’ve been building a freelance writing career.

After a year of hard work, that was interrupted by a hip surgery, the freelance writing gig is starting to gain traction. I’ve written more than 100 articles in the last year, not including the ghostwriting, the press releases, the web copy, or the copywriting.

It occurred to me that some of these articles might help my peeps, so here are the latest:

Obviously I like showing people how to do nifty computer stuff and where to learn programs for free! I’ll start linking to these articles here at More Cowbell so y’all can use them too.

This freelance stuff includes a Jenny Hansen LLC site, which isn’t ready yet, but I’m finally starting to pay attention to it. You’d be doing me a serious favor to click that link, take a peek at it and tell me what you think down in the comments.

Here’s the header graphic (isn’t my designer pal, Clair, awesome?):

Finally, there was the garage sale, birthday party, kindergarten whirlwind, which are all (thankfully) in the past.

In my research travels, I discovered Patrick Flynn from Smart Passive Income, and this guy is like an online superhero. He makes me feel like a slacker. Here’s a summary of his 2014.

And finally, the video that made me laugh. It’s just so full of testosterone.

Catch me up with all of you! What have you been working on? What are you excited about? What has made you laugh this week? Enquiring minds love to know these things here at More Cowbell!

Good onya for being so busy, Jenny! I LOVE the new title of the book. I think it should stick. 🙂 I also love the header graphic for your new site. It’s brilliant. I checked out the site and while I like the idea of “reach” “teach” “share” “sell”, etc. flowing down in ‘steps’ it did distract me a little. I think for ease of reading, you might want to consider putting them all flush left, but still bolded and spaced the same way. Just my two cents.

Btw – loved the latest vid here. Those two were redonk. 😉

We just got back from a whirlwind, amazing, once-in-a-lifetime European cruise/vacation with my family (4 countries – 7 ports in 9 days with a week in Barcelona and a couple days in Venice – yes, Italy! – on each side of it. I posted lots of pics in albums on my FB page if you take a break and are interested in a looksy.) so I’m just assimilating back into life not on a big boat and trying to get my writing ducks in order.

I can’t wait to read your book! Any timeline on when that’ll be possible for us non-beta readers?

Fabulous advice, Kelly! We were up in the air on that stair step, so this feedback is welcome. Also, I’m shopping the book, so the first person it goes to is the agent who requested it. Then I’ll get more of a timeline. 🙂

p.s. I am going to go browse your photos – what a trip you’ve had! And I also changed the stair-step, so if you get a chance, please let me know if you really DO like it better. 🙂

It was an amazing and exhausting trip. I think you’ll enjoy the photos.

YES, I do like it better. The list flows better and just makes my brain feel more at ease. Something about the whole reading left to right thing. But it could just be me, so definitely ask around.

And YAY for an agent requesting the book! I’m sure it’ll be snatched up right quick. 🙂 Keep us posted.

I’ve always wanted to take that trip. It just sounds like so much fun. Thanks for taking a peek at the changes!!

On the agent front – thinking about it makes my stomach hurt, so I just write and don’t think about it. 🙂

Love your header graphic! And, oh my gosh, your areas of expertise are brilliant and so needed. I wasn’t distracted by the flow, but I can see Kelly’s point. I also cannot wait to read Rosaries Make Bad Thongs! Of course you’d get underwear somewhere in the title! *snort*

Jenny, all good things are there for you, with more on the way!

Of COURSE I had to get undies in the title. Because they’re funny. There’s even sparkly underpants on page 2 of the book. 🙂 Thanks for the feedback – I needed some. We’ve got a lot of behind the scenes stuff that isn’t live yet, but it’s nice to “unveil” a bit.

Congrats on all the articles and the website! And the Rosary Beads/Sister In Need/Nun Book is so awesome. Can’t wait for it to be out!

That video cracked me up. It reminds me of when I first met my husband, and he was in a knee brace for a softball injury in which he’d twisted his leg while running to second base. His story included that after he fell, he rolled over a few times, stretched out his hand, and was safe at the base. Yeah, honey, because THAT’s what matters, not your torn ligament. LOL.

  4. I love the proposed title of the book. Go with the Rosaries one. It’s perfect and suits you to a T (tee ?).

I like the new site as well. I shall have to bookmark it as a favorite as I could certainly benefit from any technical help I can get.

Now about those side mirror underpants – is that the equivalent to the front end, grill and headlights bra?

You and Scott could totally rock the smart passive income! Thanks – you’re a communications gal, so I really, really, really wanted your opinion. Now to just find the time to build out the rest of the pages!

You are cooking with gas girlfriend! Wow, has your freelance career taken off. Good for you! You’re a writing machine. So naturally, the blog has slacked off. I understand how that happens. You cannot do it all. It’s impossible as much as we try. But I must say that I love your logo! Very nice. As for “Rosaries Make Bad Thongs”…not sure…lol! Can’t wait ’till that book goes public! Miss you girl! 🙂

  8. I was wondering where your sexy self was lately. I better start writing a book too so I don’t feel all left out.

As for me, I just ate and drank my way through a NYC food event that I covered for my blog. Met a few celebrity chefs along the way. Media passes rule. The blogging life for me……
