Sabotaged by the New WordPress Dashboard

Apparently you have to turn comments and pingbacks on in the new WordPress dashboard, which is about the silliest thing I’ve ever heard. Blogging is all about the conversation for me, and I was kind of bummed out that everyone was so quiet for yesterday’s post on vertigo. As it turns out, the comments default to “unchecked” in the new dashboard.

Now I’m heaping blessings on Kathy Owen (aka K.B. Owen – here’s her blog) because she was the one who told me the comments were closed. Thank you!! The posse here at More Cowbell is the BEST.

And just so you know…comments will never be closed here, unless I’ve died or been eaten by zombies. Even if the zombies got me, I’ll bet they’d still keep the comments on. Y’all are just that entertaining.

  2. Hmm… I didn’t have any problems with my comments with the new dashboard. Might be a glitch.

That’s why I still use the old dashboard. I’ve seen the new one, and I don’t like it.

I tried pinging you on Twitter about it; you must have missed it. C’est la vie…

  4. I just checked mine as I also put up a post yesterday with no comments. The new dashboard is working fine. Maybe no one liked our posts yesteday? 😦

  5. Oh, Jenny … that must be why I couldn’t leave a comment on your “return” blog post. I am with WordPress and as of this week, I haven’t had a problem yet. But with them, one never knows 🙂

And I enjoyed your post on vertigo. Hang in there (hee hee) and keep up your ever-ready optimism 🙂

I truly love WordPress, Florence. I just didn’t appreciate the defaults turning off all my favorite things.

Ahhhhh, the vertigo. It comes, it goes…it comes back… If I never have it again after the doctor tomorrow, I will be thankful all of my days.

Vertigo sounds awful. I think I would rather be eaten by zombies.

Sue, it’s interesting. I told a friend of mine that I was more afraid of vertigo than blood clots and it’s true. I know what causes THOSE. I am at a complete loss on this vertigo business. Drives me nuts.

Thank you for this post. I know I’m ultra conservative about changes in what I see on the screen, but in this case I thought I was ultra dumb.

The new dashboard has made Tylenol and i good friends. i have not felt such rage toward a non-human since the Rubik cube first came out. My stats at first were as if, even the mice said “Screw this blog, she is a blogging fool”. Then,i would loose work,as you I didn’t know i had to ring, buzzers, bells and horns to get feedback. Back in 06 there was a blogging site called “Blogstream” the caveman’s blogsite.very ,very basic. Oh,how i miss that site right now, yes, you had to all but climb into your motherboard and run the comp,to write a paragraph, but when you hit publish,it was chiseled in stone. So,i’m going to keep at it,hey i’ve been at this a year and a half and have almost 900 followers,by the time my picture is on the “Your 100 today, for smucker’s jelly”. I may hit 1,000.and we will celebrate. Love ya Jenny 🙂
