Undie Chronicles, Volume 23: The Underpants War

Those of you who are new to More Cowbell might have missed The Undie Chronicles. The regular posse here knows: When the Undie-verse speaks, we will always listen.

Who’d have ever thought we’d get into the TWENTIES in this series? Not me. I had no idea when this began that there were so many hilarious undie-based topics to discuss.

Move over Captain Underpants…now we have The Underpants Wars.

I opened up my daughter’s Scholastic Books catalog over the weekend, and what do I see on page 5, but this hilarity?

It's "action-packed" (if you know what I mean...)

It’s “action-packed” (if you know what I mean…)

And it’s on SALE. You know I had  to skedaddle to Amazon to check this out.

Underpants nirvana for the next generation?! I am so buying this “Silly Underpants Pack.” After browsing through the Underpants Books series, I’m ready to build a shrine to Claire Freedman and Ben Cort.

Check out these titles:

Really, who doesn’t love underpants?? These books have been translated into everything from Spanish to Welsh. It’s an international phenomenon!

And no wonder…these books chronicle The Underpants Wars, and have rhymes like these:

“When T. rex saw man’s undies,
He roared with deafening rants.
I don’t want to eat you up.
I want your underpants.”

These are classics in the making.

The book description:

The mystery of dinosaur extinction is solved! Scientists have plenty of theories about why dinosaurs are extinct, but the UK’s bestselling author/illustrator team of Claire Freedman and Ben Cort knows the real answer: The dinos were wiped out in an Underpants War! This wacky celebration of underpants is perfect for reading aloud, and the hilarious antics of T. rex and the gang are endlessly entertaining. Featuring fun, vibrant art and short, rhyming text, Dinosaurs Love Underpants is a prehistoric pleasure parents and kids will want to read again and again.

Jess Witkins, “Dinosaurs Love Underpants” is no “Taken by the T-Rex.” This here is some clean Undie Fun (i.e. You can open the package without squinching your eyes closed like you had to with that other book).

I can’t wait for my “Silly Pack” to arrive! I’ll keep you posted on whether or not they make me laugh my pants off. At the very least, they’ll get good play here at the blog. 🙂

Had you already heard of these books? Do you think they’ll help me build Undie Love in the next generation? What titles do you suggest for these authors as they expand their series. Enquiring minds always love to ponder these things here at More Cowbell!

I wasn’t sold on the concept until I read the title, Aliens in Underpants Save the World. Well, hey, if they save the world, those are some rockin’ underpants!

Your words. Not mine. C’mon you’ve already shared that your guy is a commando dude.

    And, SKA-WEET!…

A chance for me to comment on a post I missed about your hubby’s birthday gift. You didn’t think he’d make use of those rocking crochet manly-man items and asked for ideas. Consider this an early Christmas idea or advance planning for next year.

Panty liners for Jeans days. SERIOUSLY! Don’t those jeans chafe? Even one of our favorite authors, Jennifer Crusie, missteps in a couple of her secks scenes. Both Nick (CRAZY FOR YOU) and C.L. (TELL ME LIES) whip it out of unzipped jeans. Throughout my read of those scenes a tiny nugget of worry surfaces. “What if they get pinched by that zipper?” Am I crazy?

    No. Don’t answer that.

Gloria, I’m with you girl. If you’re gonna *whip it out* PLEASE do so out of a button fly!! We like to keep our guys’ twigs and berries scar free. 🙂

What I ended up getting the Hubs? A 5-hour Survival School for two. The unfortunate part: the TWO of that party means I need to go too. *gulp*

I always wanted to invent the “Un-Grundy Undies” – underwear that never gave you a grundy. I could make millions but how do you maintain that guarantee? If someone calls to complain, how do you go about checking that claim to make sure they’re not lying? “Hey, walk in front of me in your underwear” just screams lawsuit. Guess I will have to make my millions writing. Maybe we could incorporate it in the Great Underpants Wars. 🙂

  7. Well, I for one, would love to know more about pirate underpants. In fact, if you can find a photo of Captain Jack Sparrow in his skivvies, send it my way.

I see London, I see France, I see Jenny’s underpants! (Hey I remembered it.) This underpants phenomenon is not new you know. I was singing that silly ditty as a very small child.

Always good stuff over here at More Cowbell.

Patricia, I’d forgotten all about that “I see London” ditty. Undie hilarity is absolutely NOT new. However, it continues to make me giggle because I’m eternally twelve. What can I say? 🙂

“Aliens In Underpants Save The World” – CLASSIC.

I LOVE Sue’s “Ungrundy-Undies” idea. OMG hilarious. But she’s right – how could you guarantee? Just the thought of that makes me giggle.

Okay, continuing titles for The Underpants Wars chronicles:

Tardigrades Love Their Space Underpants (been watching too much Cosmos)
Zombies Love Eating Your Underpants (GROSS!)
Puppies In Underpants Pack The Park (can you imagine how cute?)

Okay, I’m spent. Must get back to work. 😉 Thank you and your underpants for making me giggle as usual, Jenny.

You’re absolutely welcome, Kelly. And I think “Zombies Love Eating Your Underpants” has major potential with the zombie craze still going strong….

By the way, you returned the laugh in your first chapter of “Chasing Kate” with “M&Ms melt in your mouth, not in your pants.” LOL.
