C is for Cowbell: The Cowbell Chonicles Are About to Begin!

In today’s A-Z Challenge post, you knew the “C” couldn’t be anything else, right? But I’ve got surpises for y’all!! TWO surprises as a matter of fact.

Since this April is my blogiversary month, in addition to the A-Z Challenge, I’m giving away some cool stuff (cuz it makes me happy)! One of them is free and clear and really easy. Just comment for a chance to win. I’ll use Random.org to pick a winner every Saturday. 🙂

I’m sending one of these sassy things out to 1 commenter for each week in April. (Of course, I’m betting they spell the ones they deliver correctly. Geesh.)

These babies can go on your car OR your bulletin board...or wherever, IYKWIM...

These babies can go on your car OR your bulletin board…or wherever, IYKWIM…

Are those to die for, or what? (I had to have my own, so I bought a 10 Pack from CafePress to let me share with all of you!)

What else do I have in store for y’all? Well the second surprise is all about the More Cowbell Posse having a good time and I’m borrowing this idea from my pal Leanne Shirtliffe (aka Ironic Mom).

Note: If you’re not following her blog, you are completely missing out.

Leanne had Thing 1 & Thing 2’s Excellent Adventures

We are implementing The Cowbell Chronicles!

The Plan

This thing is crying out for the POSSE!

This thing is crying out for the POSSE!

I have this handy-dandy cowbell that I bought to entertain myself. I’m expecting it in the mail from these guys any day now!

I’ll be taking photos with it at the DFW Conference the first weekend in May to start its adventure. From there it will go to one of you.

Just let me know in the comments that you’d like it, or you can wait a few days for me to get my act together and leave a comment on The Cowbell Chronicles page.

Either way, this baby can be yours to host for a week. It’ll be like Flat Stanley, only louder.

I’m still trying to work how to write the places it’s been right on the Cowbell. We’ll see.

Host Guidelines

  • Once you get the Marvelous Cowbell in the mail, it is yours for a week.
  • There are only three requirements:
    1. Take a a few photos and send them to me at JennyHansensMail(at)aol(d0t)com so I can include them in a photo gallery. Feel free to be creative and unorthodox with your photos.
    2. Blog about it. (I promise to give you some linky love.) Or if you’re shy, I’ll blog about it here at More Cowbell.
    3. At the end of your week, put that Marvelous Cowbell back in the box it came in, address it with the contact details I give you, and send it back to me.
  • If you want to do more (video, poems, wild accessories), go wild.

My Role

I will keep y’all informed about the Marvelous Cowbell through a Cowbell Chronicles photo gallery and a dedicated page. Plus, I’ll be laughing my guts out at your pictures.

Now THAT’S some blogiversary fun!

What do you think, my posse?! Would you like to be part of The Cowbell Chronicles? Where would you like to take the Marvelous Cowbell? Do you have other ideas about how the Marvelous Cowbell’s adventure should begin? Enquiring minds always want to know these things here at More Cowbell!

You always have the coolest ideas, Jenny! Can’t wait for the Epic Journey of the Cowbell with a Thousand Faces, or would it be ringers? *grins* For writing on it, you could use a white china marker, although those tend to rub off. Another possibility is a thin-tip paint pen, often used for writing on custom t-shirts and such – I believe they even come with glitter 🙂

    • Jenny Hansen says:

I can’t take credit for all of this one, but I’m turbo excited about seeing where all the Cowbell goes. It’ll get a whole lot banged up and beautiful and we should all have a rockin’ time. 🙂

Awesome idea’s on the writing, Gene! My pal Clair is an artist and I’ll be asking her too. I think I’ll start writing around the base and just work my way up as people send it back. I’m also thinking of putting a thumb drive in the box so people have an easier time sending back photos.

  2. Sisyphus47 says:

Loved this! A cool post from the coolest of writers! 😉

  3. What a hoot! (totally typed “goot” first) 🙂 Life’s a little on the down-low right now, but I could introduce the cowbell to stuff – like my favorite chipmunk. And depending on timing, it could go on stage with me. Rehearsals begin April 30… 😉

  4. Jane Sadek says:

    Sounds like fun!

  5. What an awesome idea, Jenny! Can’t wait to see the Cowbell making its rounds. You can totally count me in on this one. I’ve already got pic ideas circulating in my brain. 🙂

  6. Julie Glover says:

Fabulous ideas! But I absolutely do not want that bumper sticker if it says “perscription.” LOL. (And I can’t help myself: “its adventure.”) Anyway, I would love to host the cowbell for some Lone Star adventures! Of course, I’ll be there at DFWCon to say hi to it personally. Go cowbell!

    • Jenny Hansen says:

I know exactly what you mean about the misspelling. I already emailed CafePress and bitched and they said if they came misspelled that they’d immediately send out new ones. There just might be a week or two delay on me getting them mailed out.

The fact that you’d save me one round of shipping by just handing it off at DFWCon is VERY attractive. Cuz cost-consciousness is the way I roll. LOL.

  7. Bill Parker says:

Great ideas. I’m down for both. 🙂 great catch by Julie, but that’s what they make Sharpies for…

    • Jenny Hansen says:

Hahahaha! So, you think I should take the typo’d one and just correct it? That strikes me as so hilarious at the moment. And yes, I depend on Julie’s fantastic grammar. She is the queen. 🙂

      • Bill Parker says:

Eh, let the recipients do it themselves. People have things too easy in this Internet age…they can make a correction-to-a-bumper-sticker-by-hand or two, won’t kill ’em. 🙂

  8. Phil says:

Look at you planning global domination! The world needs More Cowbell!

    • Jenny Hansen says:

See, Phil, you have the advantage of living in a “destination” city. Imagine the Marvelous Cowbell riding the subway and eating at landmarks. Gloriousness!

  9. Yes to the cowbell chronicles. I’m up for it! 🙂

  10. Cory Imhof says:

Ooh I love it!! I could x-ray it at the clinic and send it off. So cool!!

Reblogged this on A Garden of Delights and commented:
We ALL need more Cowbell, and he’s a way you can get some…

    • Jenny Hansen says:

You sweet thing! Thanks for the re-blog Eden. And since it’s my rules on the bumper stickers, I say you get one. I’m still waiting for them to send me the ones with the correct spelling! Send me your address via Facebook message so I can send you one when they come in. 🙂

  15. Eden says:

Oh, I somehow missed this post in April (bummer, guess I’ll have to get myself one of those cool bumper stickers myself now). Yay for Julie Glover’s post this Sunday about her adventures with Cowbell!

I’d love to host the Cowbell here in the fair Northeast, home llama and mountains and …stuff! 😉

This is …. well, we need it. Thanks for doing this, Jenny.

    • Jenny Hansen says:

Thanks, Eden and see the above comment on the bumper sticker. Hey, you’ve got llamas?? How cool is that?!

      • Eden says:

We don’t have llamas–there is a farm next to my son’s dojo that has them (here’s picture I took of one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/64327763@N03/8806223507/). We have guinea hens and peafowl in the back yard however. I think that Cowbell will have some fun here.

Besides, a little Northern Hospitality might be a fun addition. There’s a few WANAs/ROWers up here to get into the act.

Thanks about the bumper sticker, Jenny! Will PM you via Facebook this evening.
