W is for “WTF” (It’s Not What You Think!)

Welcome to Thoughty Thursday! This is the day of the week that y’all get to be privy to whatever thoughts are kicking around in my brain.

In honor of the original “forehead-less” vLog (that wore me out), I’m lazing around a bit today, thinking about doing what everyone else does when they’re fried: watch television.

Note: Several of my pals are likely falling off their chairs right now because I have TV on the brain. Yep, you heard me…television (which I gave up for writing about a year and a half ago).

Tiffany White and Amber West provide most of my television exposure these days but I have been known to tune into Dancing With The Stars and Modern Family every so often. I freaking love the dad in Modern Family!

His take on WTF slays me…it’s right up there with “Shut the front door!” and “FOCUS!” for me. (Click here if you have no idea what “FOCUS” stands for.)

What is your favorite TV show? Do you watch Modern Family? Is “Why The Face?” a staple in your family’s language too? Enquiring minds LOVE to know these things here at More Cowbell!

Um. Your TV-adverse friend here. I’m a bit out of society, because I don’t watch. Notable exceptioons . . . the occassional “House” (a love-hate relationship of mine.) and of course. . . .
P-B-R!!!!! (cue the cheering) Pro Bull Riding for the uninitiated.

    I know. I’m a Geek.

  3. Checking in! I’ve been MIA for nearly a week. It was time to give myself a FOCUS self-talk. Can not believe I missed that post, btw. It’s a ping-back waiting to happen.

I couldn’t listen to the video clips b/c the sound on Huey P ACKard is kapoot. And, no, I don’t think it’s an I D 10 T crisis of the user variety. I may have to test the rumor that I’ll get a new laptop if I hit the third strike on Huey’s need to be shipped to the Geekster’s Hospital in Louisville under my service contract. FOCUS will come in quite handy when I hand them the list of maladies and malfunctions. Thank you.

Okay. For me, Big Bang Theory gets me every time. I’ll feature some of my favorite clips when I get SNARK PARK up and running blathering. .

Can’t wait to see SNARK PARK!!

    Hi Jenny!
The dad from Modern Family is extremely funny. Unfortunately, I have not been able to watch much tv at all these last few months due to blogging, writing, building and sustaining my social platform, and friends visiting. I mostly DVR any shows I am interested in, and I find myself making the time to watch Smash!

I love the singing, dancing, and all the potential villians in the show. It’s definitely got drama as long as they keep it real and don’t let it go over the top. Also, the actors in there are incredible! But I have to admit that the voice of the woman who plays the lead, Karen Cartwright, is so flexible and crisp. She can do the ballad, broadway, make a hip pop song, almost everything. This 1st season ends in a few shows, so we’ll see what happens! Oh! I almost forgot. Uma Thurman has been on the last 3 shows and brings another dynamic to the show. I wonder if she will stay? 🙂

    Huge TV person and I must admit…reality show fan! I know, I know….but I can’t help it. It’s a strange addiction. To that and…soaps!! I KNOW….what can I say, I am weak…WEAK!! LOL!!

I’m not a TV person. I try watching movies when I can, but not interested in many TV series …
Though, nowadays, I’ve been following Vampire Diaries, Nikita, Secret Circle, Game of Thrones, Legend of Korra, and I can’t wait for the 2nd season of Falling Skies!
Oops, that does seem like a lot for someone who doesn’t watch TV lol

  8. I like DWTS but it’s hit and miss. I’ll watch some seasons and entirely skip others. Loving The Voice – much prefer it to American Idol. Other than that, I’ll catch the odd episode of Big Bang Theory. I make sure I watch Once Upon A Time with my girls, and Grimm, and don’t like to miss Criminal Minds – but I’ll skip two or three weeks and then catch up with PVR.

I don’t have DVR/PVR…whatever it is. It scares me to think about opening the door for that much TV consumption. There’s so little time available already. My hubby? He watches TV, so I’ve got him scoping the comments here to see if there’s anything he’d love. 🙂

My little sister introduced me to Modern Family about halfway through the first season. That next November, she and I visited our older sister (who’d never seen the show) for Thanksgiving. The three of us crammed into a single bed and watched about 20 episodes in two days. I’ve never laughed so hard in my life.
Reading your post and watching the little Phil vid is going to make me smile all day. Thanks!!

This time of year, I watch a lot of baseball. Come to think of it, in the offseason I watch the MLB Network. Apart from those, “NCIS” and “The Big Bang Theory” are about the only “I gotta see it!” shows. The rest I can take or leave.

You go, John! I grew up in a house that had baseball on TV almost constantly (my mom was a huge baseball nut). There’s nothing like late Spring for the MLB set. 🙂

I so love the Dad on Modern Family. The “Why the Face” line killllled me the first time I saw it (I think I put the same clip up back when I reviewed the show).

It’s funny what you said about giving up television – by all outward appearances you’d think I spend a TON of time with the TV, but I really don’t. I, too, have given up a lot of it for writing time.

Great post, Jenny. My favorite TV shows are “Lie to Me” (may it rest in peace), “In Treatment” and “Criminal Minds.” Um, feel free to psychoanalyze me and my answers. LOL

  13. I DVR everything and maybe once a week have a TV watching fest. Once Upon A Time is probably my favorite show right now as I wait impatiently for Dr. Who to return. I’m a bit of an odd duck, I guess, my fall back shows are ones like NCIS — oldest wants to take forensic science as an elective next year 🙂 — while the family is all about the family comedies and Big Bang Theory, LOL

Of all the shows you mentioned, NCIS is the only one I’ve watched (I believe I watched one episode). I eased into this moratorium about 4 years ago…it took a while to cut it all out. But I LOVE hearing about TV and watching snippets like the clip above. 🙂

I DVR everything too and I do watch one show a night. My favs are shows like Castle, Finder, Fringe, Persons of Interest, SNL, New Girl and others that are slipping my mind. The DVR seems to always to be full, just like my TBR list. I’ve studied dance all my life, so SYTYCD on Fox over the summer is my very fav

LOL TV from those who don’t watch it must be in the air today! I rarely watch TV, but I blogged about a show I do watch, The Big Bang Theory. I hadn’t heard “why the face” but I’ve never watched Modern Family. Now I know what to say to my dog next time he gives me “the look” when I tell him to get off the couch!

  18. Hey Jenny, my TV watching here is limited, but they show every single reality competition show; Amazing Race, The Voice, So You Think You Can Dance. I didn’t watch these shows when I lived in America. I don’t know if I actually like them because they are good or because they are the only thing on in English. I get my entertainment any way I can.

Sydney, you poor thing – reality TV being the only game in town would push me to curtail my watching even more than I do! I just can’t get into most of it. Still, there’s nothing that brings American culture home like American television. 🙂

I like how crabby he is (House). Plus, I get completely impressed that he is British and you don’t hear one iota of that accent in the show.

The calendar has not exploded because I didn’t remotely get a day off. I watched baby girl and got the house cleaned. Still, I THOUGHT about watching TV, and even went so far as to take a nap. 🙂

My guy and I both love to watch Whitney – about a guy and a girl happily in love but not married. That’s us. We laugh our butts off at practically every episode. We relate.

Our TV doesn’t show any programs but since it still works for Playstation and DVDs, we’re in no hurry to replace it 🙂 The only times when I miss TV is when a friend gushes about Dancing With Stars or Idols. Those used to be my favourites. Now I ask my mom to record me TrueBlood and Game of Thrones episodes and I have marathons at her house with my sister. Much more fun that way than watching alone.
