You heard me…we’re turning ONE YEAR OLD in the next few weeks here at More Cowbell!!!
It boggles me a bit, cause I feel like you’ve been “my posse” forever. (In a good way!) But a first birthday should be commemorated in style, don’t you think?
Since we spend so much time hanging out together, and More Cowbell wouldn’t be ANY fun without you, I think it’s only right that y’all get in on the party planning.
Here’s what I’ve got as a lead up so far:
- You saw Tiffany Lawson Inman’s post on Fighting Like a Pro last Tuesday, right? It completely ROCKED!!! Plus, Julie Glover won an April class. WOOT!
- Final deadline for your Dirty Fighting contest entry is midnight tomorrow, California time (if I wake up to it, it’s in…that’s all I’m sayin..). Remember, the grand prize is to have Tiffany edit the first 10 pages of your WIP – plus there will be extreme bragging rights. To add to that, I will award a $10 Starbucks card to one of the contestants, just to honor this birthday event. I want to see some entries!
- Margie Lawson will be here next Tuesday and I can’t wait to see her post. Did you see that stunner she did for Valentine’s Day on writing visceral responses??
- Sharla Rae will be here on March 27th from Writers In The Storm – strap in tight because this chick can WRITE.
- March 30 brings a huge Life List Club Milestone party with cake and prizes.
Finally, that first week of April, I’ll unveil some surprises with TONS of Cowbell!!!
Do you celebrate YOUR blog milestones and anniversaries? What would you like to see for the birthday extravaganza here? I’d love your input on features, prizes, or post topics as we turn the page into Year Two!
Happy Friday,
Jenny
Squee!!! 🙂 Happy Anniversary Cowbell! I think this calls for a cowbell celebration of cowbell songs!
I remember when we were in Kristen Lamb’s branding class last year and you came up with the log line. I think that’s when?
You have really come a long way, Jenny. You’ve got fun stuff, techie stuff, health stuff… Always a pleasure stopping by.
*doink doink doink*
Happy Friday! 😀

Jenny –
ONE YEAR!!!!! Congratulations – and such a loyal following in a short time! As soon as I saw the title and first few lines, I immediately thought what the implications were for me – for as you know your blogiversary is my launching date and future blogiversary (I hope!). But I’m not here to talk about me
I’m looking forward to your guest bloggers that will be here soon. One thing I thought of as I read this post was perhaps you could do a post on what you learned during this first year – and maybe highlight a big blog funny or comment or a blog flop.
Other possibilities could include:
1. Asking readers to submit their favorite posts and highlight the ones that had the highest score and your take on those posts. (Could this post be done for that first week on 4/1?)
2. What have you learned from your readers over first year and anything more you would like to know about them?
3. A post for your second year could be – and this is daring – What are some of the worst blogs you’ve seen and why do you think they’re really that bad? Don’t mention the names – just a discussion on what was bad about the blog or maybe some of the worst blog posts you’ve read and again why they were so bad.
That’s it for now. This morning, my brain is running on slow-mode.

I think that would be several posts, since Lord knows there’ve been some hits and misses here. The main thing is that I enjoyed myself, and my peeps did too. 🙂

Jenny –
I’m honestly pleased that you’ve enjoyed yourself and us peeps enjoyed ourselves, because that is most important. I was just thinking of different posts that might be interesting for new bloggers or people who are thinking of blogging (in terms of thinking about a post about what you’ve learned over the past year as the Cowbell blogger). Or the one about asking your peeps to vote for their blog (or top 5 blogs) could give you an overall idea of what your peeps enjoy the most.
I also agree with the others – I think a vlog post or two would be a great new direction for you. But as a fan, I want you to feel comfortable about it. Mayber later in the year???? And I’m sure we can find a costume in t-shirt material for you!!

Groovy. Blogging has taught me a ton about writing – I can work something out with that. Good idea, Monique…I’ll think on it. 🙂

For some reason, Blondie’s Rip Her to Shreds song popped into my mind this morning and I thought, “Hey, that’s the perfect Dirty Fighting Extravaganza theme!” I’d like that one played at your anniversary party, but of course with more cowbell (which I think would be ANY cowbell).
Congratulations! I have absolutely no idea when my blog anniversary was/is. I need to look! I’m looking forward to Tiffany’s class. Thanks for doing what you do! Love your blog.

Well, shoot…I came from the Blondie time and I don’t remember that song! I DO remember dancing around in wooden wedge Candies shoes to “Call Me.” LOL…
Thanks for giving me a moment of nostalgia, and many, many smiles, Julie!!

Happy blogiversary Jenny! My blog is turning 1 in April too 🙂 and there will be giveaways.
As to what you do, I don’t know. I’m just keeping up with my normally scheduled posts but adding a different giveaway for each of my posting days (Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday) plus a month long one, people have to comment to enter.
Looking forward to the guest posts…you do get great ones!

How fun that we share a blogiversary. Anyone else who is counting a year should speak up to and we can have a big fiesta. LOL.

I think we have to count blogs in dog years. So your blog is really turning 7. This theory means that my blog is about 16. It wants to drive itself around.
Let me know if you want help celebrating!

Ironic Mom is a naughty teen?? (Why does that not surprise me?)
Well, it’s a good thing I have so many older blogs to help babysit my child blog. She likes to pull pranks with her cowbell self (IYKWIM).

Woot woot awesomeness!!! Gotta love bday celebrations (blog or otherwise)! Any excuse for a party…squeeee!! And I think a must-have post would be a pantypeeps/mundie chronicle….and maybe some riot story resurrected from the chronicles of the dating committee. LOL!!! And hell, some jaw-dropping videos?!?! Maybe a VLOG???? HAHAHAHA!!!
I can’t WAIT to celebrate with you. Although I will be on vacay from April 4-18th….sniffles…but I will make UP for it upon my return, for sure! 🙂
YEAHHHH MORE COWBELL!!! 🙂

I vlog, huh? I’ll have to start working on that. If I’m going to do one, I want it to be funny (or at least make sure I don’t have bed-head). I’ll have to think on this one.

And a French Maid outfit! Okay, you can skip the outfit. But the Vlog is a great idea!!!!
Oh yes, and a Cowbell.
Happy Bday – you’ve come a long way, Baby!

Do French Maid outfits come in t-shirt material? Because, really…enquiring minds must know these things before buying.
