#ROW80 Update and February Plans at More Cowbell

It’s time for my Sunday ROW80 Update and it’s a very mixed bag.

I’ve been working a ton of hours this week, trying to finish up some projects before busy season gets into full swing with the accountants I work with.

This was a week where I ran to keep up with my life. You know the feeling, right??

Goals Update

  • Exercise: Walked 3 times this week – twice during my lunch hours and once with the baby. I’m well under my exercise goals, but at least I wasn’t a complete slug. I also finished putting in my daffodil bulbs, planted vegetables and herbs, and am in the process of digging holes for my new bower vines to cover the wall in our backyard.
  • Writing: Only 1 writing sprint this week, so my fictioning is only at 800 words for the week. I need to get my Test Mile going as a habit each day, just to ensure that I get a passable wordcount in. This one’s a work in progress.
  • Blogging: This is always a joy for me, and I had a lot of fun this week. I had 5 regular posts + this update. The Saturday Risky Baby Business blogging is really helping my memoir along.
  • Sponsoring: I was pretty dismal as a ROW80 sponsor this week. Usually I check on 25-30 people on check-in days and this last round, I didn’t get to more than 10. I will do better this week – taking time on the Sunday check-in is the key.
  • It’s not part of my weekly goals (though I’m thinking of adding it) but I am pleased to say I was a great critique partner this week! We meet on Thursday nights and I’d read and critiqued both of the chapters I was given in advance, and helped one of my pals with a chapter outline her publisher wanted.

If you’d like to encourage the rest of your ROW80 pals (and of course YOU DO!), click here and spread some love to the rest of Team ROW80.

Two Upcoming Events I’m Excited About:

  1. Margie Lawson will be here on Valentine’s Day, discussing visceral responses for love.
  2. We’re kicking off another Dirty Fighting Contest after  Valentine’s Day, with Naked Editor, Tiffany Lawson Inman, as our final judge. (Millions of couples are rarin’ for a good fight after February 14th so it seemed appropriate.)

There’s always more, but those are the biggies…We’ll also be giving away more spots in the More Cowbell Tribe this Tuesday with another Triberr post.

How is the quest to meet goals going in your life? Is your January energy blast waning or staying strong? Enquiring minds LOVE to know these things here at More Cowbell!

Happy writing!
Jenny

I live in Southern California where it’s 75 degrees and sunny this weekend. It’s been a great weekend for planting. I have a Valentine’s funny coming out the day before V-Day that y’all should enjoy. 🙂

  4. Taking my “novella-as-comment” time over to Triberr to learn how to be a contributing member of the tribe. I don’t want to be the chick stuck chewing on buffalo hides for moccasins and the Pocahontas dresses.

    As always, you rock!

Even your misses are hits. The key is to be happy with progress and I think you are excelling in that department. Keep up the fantastic work, you are ever an inspiration.

Bless you, Alberta! If you saw my laundry pile and my dust bunnies, you wouldn’t think I was keeping up! But I’ve got bulbs and that’s what matters to me more than dust bunnies. 🙂

Even though this was a frantic week for you, Jenny, and not everything went smoothly, you still ROCKED it, girl! Wish we could have gotten out word sprint in, but I went ahead without ya. For you or anyone out there, I’m usually available to sprint Tu/W/Th between 11 and 1:30 EST. Just tweet me.

I am SO jealous of your ability to garden at this time of year! All I’m able to do is buy seed packets right now, and start them indoors in a few weeks. Do you see how GREEN I am? 😀

    Have a great week,
    Kathy

I see how green you are my friend, but hello? You have all that groovy East Coast stuff I love right near you!! Still, I really enjoy gardening in this February heat wave that we get every winter. It seriously rocks!

You could just come for a visit, you know… 🙂

My fiction sense is broken very badly. It worries me. The only writing I seem to be able to do is to tell stories about my own life. I can tell those stories pretty well, but who want’s to read about the life of a nobody? The other thing is that there are only so many stories about the life of yours truly, and I’m running out of material. Any ideas?

Geo, I have fun doing fiction about my “dream life” or the life of a relative who was interesting. Even if you do it as short stories, it might open new avenues for you. 🙂

  11. Well Jenny, you did fantastic on your goals this week! You got out and walked which is more than I can say. I’ve got to pull myself away from this computer. lol

And I’m so happy that things are taking shape with your “Risky Baby Business” post and non-fiction book. Awesome!

Take care Jenny and have a great week! 🙂

It’s hard to pull yourself away from the computer. Trust me, I know! I had to give up TV to be able to have enough computer time and still have a life. Geesh…

  12. I believe running to keep up with your life should be included as part of your exercise plan. It’s certainly enough to get the heartrate going and burn off a few calories. You accomplished so much this week, Jenny. Well done! 🙂

You completely trumped the mono girl. LOL! Seriously, though, you did well. Sometimes life does interfere with our original plans, but you kept going and knocked out some goals. Best wishes getting more writing time this week! I am loving the blog posts.

I don’t think I trumped MONO – hello? That’s serious stuff! I’m so sorry you’re sick with something that takes a while to get better. You take care of yourself, girlfriend. And it’s mutual on the blogs – your posts are SO FUN!

  17. Jenny,
January hasn’t been very productive for me either because of the workload at office and computer problems. It’s sunny here in Oregon and daffodils are already peeking out in our yard. I want to do more gardening, not sitting in the office!
