#ROW80 Check-in: I’m All Fired Up!

Holy cowbell, I’ve added 2000 words to my WIP since my last check-in!

That might seem like child’s play for you, but for me, that’s the most I’ve gotten in a week since early December.

I’m all fired up!

Exercise Update

It’s been raining here so I haven’t done a ton of walking, but I did go dancing last night, which I don’t get to do very often. (Very little makes me happier than getting my groove on!)

Blogging Update

On the blogging front, I posted 2 ROW80 Check-ins, 2 personal posts and an awesome guest blog by Margie Lawson on POV. With having a guest one day, I was able to get in some more writing time. It’s something for me to consider when I’m thinking about my commitments.

ROW80 Sponsorship

I’ll be tearing up the ROW80 blog hop list today, seeing what y’all have been up to. If you’d like to go support your fellow team members, click here. I’ve checked on everyone every check-in day, but I seem to only have that day. The late arrivals do not see me, which is kind of bugging me.

What’s happening in your world? Has this been a good week for you and your goals, or no so much? Enquiring minds love  to know these things here at More Cowbell!

  1. It’s been a great week for me! Glad to see 2k more on your WIP! I had almost an entire year where I would have given anything for any kind of wordcount. Keep on writing!

  3. Well I’m not in on the ROW80 – but seeing as having a guest blogger helped you so much this last week, I’d like to HELP you out with YOUR productivity next month!

Friendly reminder that we are cohosting some kind of Valentines Dirty Fighting Contest (or something like it) – and that means I will have one or possibly two days on your blog next month…therefore YOU will have MORE time to write, right?

*super cheezy smile and a thumbs-up*

Hi – I missed two check-ins due to a holiday in New York, which I blogged about of course 🙂 So chuffed for you and the 2k – I so need to do that and much more. I don’t seem to be able to get into the flow of my WIP on my return from NYC.

Re the guest post thing. Watch out. I went down that route and found/find I get comments for my posts but people don’t bother with the guest posts? My other blog-WordsinSync-is mainly guest posts/author interviews/book reviews. Its’ the only way I can run three blogs. But readers seem to want the blogger more that her guests? One a week wouldn’t hurt though I imagine and it is a great way to save yourself some time for writing. 🙂

  6. 2,000 words is a lot Jenny. I was horrific in November/December so I MUST catch up in this Round. I think I gotta find a better strategy for the sponsoring. Maybe checking the list at the end of the day? I sometimes even wait until Monday so I can try to catch as many peeps as I can.

I try to do it toward the end of the day, so I can see as many as possible and do one fell swoop of 10-12 blogs. It has really helped. Especially with your time difference, if it doesn’t kill your Monday, that’s what I’d do – a few at a time all day long. I keep the window open and don’t refresh so I can see which ones I’ve already gotten to.

Let me know if it helps you.

  8. Woot, Jenny on the 2000 words!

What’s bugging me? Hmm. Honestly? “No. I seek BFLs (Big Fat Lies) from Row 80ers,” says Jenny.

Social Media! I MUST learn to manage social media time. I am taking Kristen Lamb’s awesome Blogging-to-Build-Brand. GREAT NEWS on that front. I did a favor for a friend. I picked his son up at DFW and toted him back to school at UNT. Turns out this young man developed a PASSION for Social Media. He’s trustworthy, thinks outside the box, has TONS of good ideas on multi-tasking on the net, AND he’s willing to barter some of his (incredibly low) fees for valet service to-and-from the airport. Woot! Jumped on that one.

ROW80 updates. I’ve done none. Zero. Zip. Doesn’t mean I haven’t been working toward those goals. I simply haven’t yet added a Page for the updates. Not ALL of my followers give a flying rats patootie about ROW 80. “Duh-NOTE-TO-SELF”: Turn off auto-feed to FB for ROW80 posts?

MY BRAND, MY BRAND, MY BRAND! I’m too old to have an identity crisis. How do I develop a brand that crosses genres? As in, Steamy Romance and MG Light Fantasy. Could they BE any farther apart? The common link is humor, snark, quirky characters. Working on that one.

Phew! Thanks for the opportunity to vent on your site, Jenny (intentional or otherwise). I’ll return the favor by teaching you to line dance for the #myWANA-fest.

Gloria, EVERY blogger freaks out a little about 2-3 weeks into Kristen’s class. That’s part of why she extended it to 2 months. You start feeling really behind (you’re actually NOT) and you start getting a bunch of nasty shoulds in your head as your fellow WANA-mates start putting up these kickass blog designs.

RELAX. It’s normal. p.s. Can I take your rant and do a post around it? One just came into my head. 🙂

Gene, her classes will spin your writing around. I’ve seen it happen to person after person. Margie literally brings you to a whole new level and it’s amazing. I can’t wait to take my turn in her classes too. 🙂

Start with her packets if you want to be self-paced. That’s what I’ve been up to. They’re only $22.

  11. Gloria, you’re cracking me up! Maybe your brand is a slightly slutty young girl who can turn a prince into a toad? Just kidding. Sort of. ; )

That’s a darn fine week, Jenny! You got to go dancing! Whooohooo! My week has been awesome. I finally got Triberr figured out (THANK YOU!!!) and now I’m all bloggy-rific with my RT’s and comments (a huge thank you to Fabio Bueno for the spreadsheet idea!). Not only that, but I’m ripping through my WIP and am on target for having it to my Beta readers by Feb 1st. Whew! I’m thinking this next week is going to be just as fantastic.

Gloria, are you enjoying this as much as Tameri and I???

My goal is 2500 words this week. I think 2000 is great! That’s the beauty of ROW80: You know what your life can handle, and set goals accordingly. It’s about steady progress. Good for you!

Stacy, I’m trying to help y’all with Triberr because the ramping up on it IS a teensy bit slow for a lot of people. Once you have the hang of it, it will save you A TON of social media time. Facebook is not my most stellar subject, or I’d help y’all with that one too. I’ve just never gotten all that excited about it.

You keep up the great work too! And thanks for stopping in. 🙂

  19. Way to go, Jenny! Sounds like you’ve had a very productive week…and got in a little dancing, too! The past two weeks have been very UNproductive for me, thanks to having and now recovering from a virus. I’ve been lucky to keep up with my blogging (mostly because I had a bunch of drafts I hadn’t used yet…and resorted to a rerun one day).

Here’s hoping you have a repeat of this week…and I get back on track! 🙂

  20. Woot woot on a GREAT week Jenny. Super impressed with your 2000 words – love it! And you are doing great on your other goals. Here’s to some nice weather this week for walking.
My week was a bit lack luster with some weeknight events and hubby tossing out his back. Not to mention, I opted for some heavy reading (craft book) instead of writing. I prefer to do reading in large chunks so that was wonderful.
Not to fear, I am pumped for a fab week ahead!
