#ROW80 Check-in: Project WRITE (Finally!)

Happy Sunday check-in to Team ROW80!!

Have you been getting your fix of motivation with ROW80’s Monday posts?

There was Kait Nolan’s fabulous post on The Test “Mile” and my post last Monday, called Do You Fear Your Dream?

If you’d like to cheer on your ROW80 teammates click here and go to the Linky Tool at the bottom of the post to enter your post in today’s blog hop.

How am I doing on goals?

While I can’t say I’ve met a ton of ROW80 goals this week, I’ve FINALLY moved into position to be able to do so. This last week I:

  • Finished Phase One of our software rollout at work
  • Underwent Lasik surgery on my right eye (w/Ziemer lasers for the curious)

What does this mean?

  1. This means I’m in my last few weeks of working long hours, tweaking our new software and getting our data into working order. The accounting firm should be in great shape going into tax season and I will have much more time to WRITE come February 1st!
  2. I’m going to do at least 2 writing sprints this next Wednesday (1/18) so please let me know down in the comments if I should tag you to join me for this.
  3. I have 2 weeks of no sweating and then I can resume a real live workout schedule with no restrictions (and no corrective lenses!).

What have I done toward my goals in the meantime?

  • I took a 6.5 mile walk with the family last Sunday, which was lots of fun.
  • I’ve kept up on blogs and not much other writing.
  • HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT: My fellow Writer In The Storm, Laura Drake, SOLD three books to Grand Central publishing and we announced her sale at our chapter meeting yesterday with tons of hooplah. It was a stellar day and I’m so excited about her success.

Note: You might enjoy her post from last week, 5 Things I Wish I’d Believed Before I Sold.

What’s new here at More Cowbell?

  • I’ve started a Triberr contest with the prize of a place in a More Cowbell tribe and training on how to use the program (first 3 winners announced on Tuesday 1/17 with my second Triberr blog). Did you see that Dino Dogan, the co-founder of Triberr, is going to be part of our webinar??? I about died!! I’m so excited about it.
  • Margie Lawson is popping in and visiting us this Thursday (1/19) with a great post and a fun giveaway.
  • We’re gearing up for another round of our Dirty Fighting Contest!! (Click here for winners from Round 1 of this contest.)

I’m having a great time so far this month, how about you??! How are you doing with your goals? Is there something the rest of us can do to help you with your progress? Enquiring minds always  want to know these things, especially on a ROW80 check-in day! 🙂

Wow, fantastic week! I’m so happy for Laura, excited that you got Lasik and managed a 6.5 mile walk, AND psyched that you’ve got Dino Dogan pulled in for the Triberr webinar! I managed to get in a couple of walks this week, so while I’m not at my 4-5 days/week goal, I’m getting better. 😀

Have a lovely week, my friend!

  6. Sounds like an amazing week 😀 Writing sprints sound fun but I work Wednesdays; depending on what time it is, I might try to join in. Glad the surgery was successful (I think I’d be too much of a wuss to get surgery on my eyes lol)

More time to write is a good thing indeed. Nice job on taking the walk and your going to feel worlds better as the exercise routine moves forward. A refreshed body to go with your new vision 🙂

    Have a great week, Jen.

P.S. I’ll contact you about the Triberr thing. Maybe Dino can help.

  9. Yay for writing time! While our commitments are different, I am in the same boat…2 more weeks of work obligations and doing overtime before I can truly focus on writing in Feb. And yay for Lasik!! I should be good for a sprint Wed morning (so let me know!)

Glad to hear that you’ve been able to finally position yourself for your Row80 goals! Strangely, I think that’s exactly what I’m doing. I’ve learned a LOT about what I need to do to keep my own goals myself. 6.5 miles is a fantastic walk! 🙂 And I’ll be about — Dirty Fighting Contests sound fabulous! 🙂

I enjoyed the post on “Do You Fear Your Dream” – short answer, yes! 🙂 Also, thanks for the link to Wendig. You sound like you’re putting things in place for a very productive month — I’ve already got lots on my plate, so I won’t volunteer for the sprints, but it sounds like a great idea. Maybe next time!

I love writing sprints, but I’m in Central Europe, so I’m often writing at a completely different time than most of my writing buddies. But please tag me, and I can see if I can join in!

Congrats on the Lasik and the rollout and have a great week!

Good vision to ya! Myself got baby cataracts and they want me to go blind before the operate.

Laptop going into the shop tomorrow. Got the back-up primed and ready to rock.

  24. Fantastic Triberr announcements, Jenny! So glad to hear you are done with the Lasik 🙂 I’m trying very hard to convince my husband to go through this surgery too, but-so far-with no success, sigh.

Congrats to your friend, Laura! This is major achievement!

Let me know about the writing sprint on Wednesday. I will try to clear my schedule to join you 🙂

    Huge hugs.

Angela, it’s a big deal to let someone put a laser on your eyeball. Three things that finally gave me the titanium panties to do this were:
      (a) my husband is the primary breadwinner
      (b) We had $2000 left if our flex spending account last year and I was damned if I’d lose it
      (c) Dr. Tom Tooma (the guy who did my eyes) is the same one who did Tiger Woods’ eyes

You must be loving that you’re eyeglasses free now!
I’d like to try a writing sprint on Wednesday. Please include me in the post about what time.

Marcia, I’m either going to email or tweet when I get going – likely the night before. I’ll do it at the ROW80 hashtag on Twitter so we all know where to go. (I know that sounds odd.)

I keep asking my husband if he has always seen this, that or the other thing. He’s laughing at me, but I don’t mind. I’m too busy being excited that I can see. 🙂
