ROW80 Update: I Was NaNo-ing When I Wrote This

I was NaNo-ing when I wrote this,
forgive me if I go too fast.
November’s just a party
and parties weren’t meant to last…

It’s the first day of NaNoWriMo as I write this post and the spell is on me! Joy is shooting out my fingertips and all is right with my birthday month.

As you probably surmised from the opening, this will be a quick update. “1999” by Prince is playing in the background and my NaNo document is in front of me.

I’m in the working part of my week, but I’ve met all my work commitments so that I can focus on writing for the rest of the week. What a happy dance I’m doing over here in SoCal!

ROW80 Mid-week Update – 11/2/11

  • I have kept up my blog visits to the places I regularly go.
  • Additionally, I’ve continued my visits to all my Team Row80 members. (I actually visited 10 of them on Sunday.) I’ll try to get in another 6-10 today. By the time this round is done, I hope to have commented on every person’s blog.
  • I’ve walked 6 miles since Sunday. I’d like to do more, so will have to make a point to take breaks from writing to do short walks and, when I have Baby Girl on Thursday and Friday, I’ll take her for a long walk.
  • I’ve got some guest blogs lined up, but I also have two guest posts to write – Life List Club for this Friday and a post for Stacy Green on 11/14.

Off to pump out words this first day of November…WOOT!

Here’s the Prince video, in case you can’t get the song out of your mind now. 🙂

I hope you’ll stop a moment to let me know how the week is going for you. If you’d like to cheer on the rest of your ROW80 teammates, go here to the ROW80 blog.

Have you been able to start on your NaNoWriMo progress if you’re participating? Has everyone (who wants to) found me on the NaNo site at “jennyhansen?” How is November feeling for you? Remember, enquiring minds always want to know about these things here at More Cowbell!

Happy Writing,
Jenny

  1. You go, Jenny! I know you can do this. I am on my own NaNoWriMo-a-thon. Why didn’t I enter officially to gain benefit of the “party,” you don’t ask but I answer anyway? Um. No clue. But, I’m with you in word count goals and cheering you and fellow NaNo peeps along.

OK, Gloria, we’ll give you a pass for 2011, but in 2012 it’s NaNo or Bust. Deal?

Thanks for the cheerleading. Will you be reporting your word totals somewhere, even if it’s not on the NaNo site?

Great job, Jen! I’m going to have to walk a bit more to keep up with you (although I do get close to six miles in during a week). All the best for the week and adventures in the NaNomia system 🙂

LOL. Thanks, Crystal. That’s high praise coming from you, but that’s Prince’s creativity. Listen to the YouTube video…I’m pretty sure my adaptation is from the 2nd verse.

I love that song. Great inspiration! Cheering for the NaNoWriMos from my editing cave (where adverbs are being unceremoniously whacked). Have a great week!

Yeah, if you’re going to earworm me, at least it’s Prince! I tend to think of this song on my way to work, which doesn’t make sense to me, but there you have it.

I feel it necessary to note that, while I type this, thinking about NaNo, I’m listening to Cake’s cover of “I Will Survive.” Oh, music!

But it sounds like you’re doing great! That’s got to be an awesome feeling to have work stuff cleared up so you can just be all, “It’s writing time!” All my heavy work load comes on the weekends, so right now I’m just mostly trying not to think about it and be as productive as I can now.

Have a wonderful rest of the week, Jenny!

Great job on the Row80 and NaNo progress! And for walking 6 miles so far – that’s great. Things are a bit slow for me this week but I’m working to catch up. Keep up the great work:)

Way to go, Jenny. And I love the cataloging the miles walked. I used to follow a blog of one of my favorite authors who noted her walking journey as “Miles to Isengard” from the Fellowship and would catalog her new total each time. She actually switched to “Miles to Dunharrow” another year and a new location in Tolkien’s assembly for others. I think she stopped but it was rather cool.

He was kinda hot, but I could never get over the fact that he’d have to wear 4 inch platforms, just to be level with me. 🙂

Thanks for the cheerleading, Catie! I’m very excited to get over to your post today.

Yesssss, I love the image of “joy shooting out of your fingertips”! I am sososo happy to hear that NaNo is starting well for you. I’ve slightly ahead of the daily wordcount (3925 as of last night), but I’m hoping to get some extra wordage this weekend, since the next couple of weeks are going to be a bit challenging with school and all. Wonderful job on all your other goals, too!

Ooooh I wish you were at my write in the first night. We didn’t have Prince playing, but there was live jazz.

I’ll try to find you on NaNo. I must be having an episode or something cause I can’t figure out the writing buddies system. how do I look for people? I also have no stats posted cause when I click on the wordcount scoreboard, it says coming soon. How does everyone else have it?! Oy!
