Can We Have A Little More Cowbell Over Here?

It’s Lovin’ Friday here at More Cowbell, where we alternate between a post about something I love and Life List Friday (which I also love).

I had someone ask me the other day where I came up with the name of this blog. Though I can hardly conceive of it, I know there are still a very few of you who have not experienced one of the Top 10 Funniest of All Time skits from Saturday Night Live…More Cowbell. This is definitely something I love!

How about that Will Farrell, huh? That guy can play a mean cowbell. Even with that 70’s hair and his belly just a-hanging out from under that hideous shirt, Will gives a 200% Master Cowbell Performance (and explores the hell out of his studio space).

And Christopher Walken? Fuggedaboutit. He OWNS his studio space in this clip, as “THE Bruce Dickinson.” He might look ghostly in this version, but he rocks.

Like the SNL skit, at the heart of it all this blog is about celebrating the unique and giving your “more” to everything you do.

More creativity.
More fun.
More discussion.
More variety.

More Cowbell Mash-up

My Kindle was a hot disorganized mess before I read Amanda Hackwith’s post about Organizing Your Kindle Book Collection. My evil OCD twin has built a shrine in Amanda’s honor.

Ever wished you knew more about Bayard & Holmes? These two rabble-rousers accepted a blog award with humor and grace in What Don’t We Know About You? I walked away feeling like I knew both of them better (and became even more convinced that Piper and I are cousins).

I just got around to reading Susan Bischoff’s wonderful post, Author Blogs – Solid Platform, Wrong Audience on Kristen Lamb’s blog. (It only posted on September 30th for crying out loud.) It was a fantastic reminder that people need to blog about a multitude of things, all of which relate to the person writing the blog. It prompted me to write the following on a Post-it in fat black marker: Us + Readers = Platform.

After running after Baby Girl this week, I had a huge belly laugh over Leanne Shirtliffe’s post on Ironic Mom, Children In Cages.

Prepare to be fascinated and thoroughly engaged by Gene Lempp’s post on the Roots of Drama, titled Designing from Bones – Theatrical Roots.

As I prepare for NaNoWriMo next month, TWO posts caught my eye.

#1 – Procrastinating Writers‘ 5 NaNoWriMo Posts You Don’t Want To Miss asks what you’d rather have at the end of November — 50,000 words or a draft of your novel? Kristen Lamb has been asking this same question for a few weeks now and it’s got me thinking.

#2 – Larry Brooks at StoryFix has a 31 day series for October called Nail Your NaNoWriMo. I’ve given you post #1 – as of today he’s on post #15. If you are a writer who’s considering the NaNoWriMo challenge, go run to StoryFix and catch up on all 15 posts.

Finally, as we enter the holiday season, Natalie Hartford wrote a timely post called, I’m In A Battle With Jeans. Between the post and the comments, you’re guaranteed both a smile AND some weight loss tips. 🙂

p.s. If you could give a rat’s a$$ about how your jeans fit, here is a recipe from Chuck Wendig that will tantalize your tastebuds with sausage, apples, and pasta in brown butter sauce. I don’t know about you but he had me at sausage…

Whether you’re spending your weekend working, parenting, coaching, writing, exercising, worshipping, or not doing much of anything, I encourage you to really explore your studio space.
