Chocolate Philosophy – Part 2

There was another Chocolate Fest at Chez Hansen this weekend, though we restrained ourselves a little. (I know you find that hard to believe, especially if you read about the first Chocolate Philosophy Discovery Session.)

I’m finding it harder and harder to discount the Dove pearls of wisdom, especially as the following came to light during an in depth discussion about work/life balance:

Take a deep breath & exhale.

Then came my favorite:

Stop and enjoy the chocolate aroma.

My husband’s favorite:

You don’t need an excuse. You just need a moment.

Note: Be sure to employ the Chinese Fortune Cookie trick and add “in bed” to that last one. It works great!

Moving on to a plotting/character analysis , we unwrapped the following gems:

It’s OK to be fabulous AND flawed.

The above was both my husband’s AND my #1 fave. Below is my second favorite:

Be the first to hit the dance floor.

We debated the next one for a while, unable to make it fit…perhaps for a Scarlett O’Hara type of character?

Calories only exist if you count them.

Clearly my honey had to eat ONE MORE square…which turned up:

Your smile is your best accessory.

I liked that one. It works for a character AND for the Chinese Fortune Cookie trick.

Evidently, the Universe is telling me that a Flash Fiction session and a fresh bag of Dove Promises is in my future! I hope you’re getting ready to have a wonderful week. May it be filled with work/life balance…and chocolate.

For those of you that have chocolate on the no-no list, what do you substitute when you’re indulging yourself? Which of the above phrases was your favorite? Enquiring minds always want to know here at More Cowbell.

REMINDER: There are more Dirty Fighting Techniques on deck for tomorrow!

I’m afraid to buy those Dove promises, they are the right size to just keep eating them guilt free! Till you’ve finished the bag and the guilt landslides on top! Like the flash fiction idea!

If you keep them in the freezer, they’re a little harder to eat. That’s my trick anyway. Thanks for the flash fiction encouragement…I’ve never done it before.

I can never buy these, or I’ll have them gone in a day or two. Looking forward to the flash fiction.

Chocolate is not on my no-no list…yet. I buy those huge Godiva bars and mete them out one square at a time. The cost is astronomical, so I’m careful about how often I eat them. So far, it’s working.

My favorite phrase? Calories only exist if you count them.

Looking forward to more dirty fighting techniques. The last one was really good.

*eyes glazed over the thought of huge Godiva bar*

I don’t know if I can concentrate on anything else you said through my chocolate haze…maybe tomorrow for dirty fighting.

  4. Damn. Now I want a bag of those babies worse than your last post!

You don’t need an excuse. You just need a moment.

I think I actually needed that kick in the pants today so that’s my favorite 🙂

  6. Fun to stumble upon your blog. I love chocolate, but I don’t seem to buy so much of it anymore. Maybe I need to change my ways! Great wisdoms come out of those little Dove treats. Thanks for the fun post!

  7. Catie’s right. Another universal truth is that free samples at the grocery store don’t count.

My wife’s got her own method for handling chocolate or other sweets. She says she needs to eat them up so they won’t tempt her.

I’d jump into the chocolate wars, but my blood sugar won’t allow it.

Hey, man…it’s Chocolate Love, not Chocolate War! If all my stars aren’t aligned that day, I’ll get a headache from sweets, so I get it (sort of). Thanks for weighing in on the subject even if you don’t get to indulge.

Confession time: On those days when a headache is on the horizon, I’ve been known to just sniff the chocolate rather than eat it. (Hope I don’t get kicked off my own blog for that admission…:-) )

Time to hit Trader Joe’s, and those big bushel baskets of chocolate hunks they keep by the register. I’m already drooling. BTW, you motivated me to walk today: did the 4.7 mile loop around Burke Lake with a friend! Sore knees, but feeling good otherwise!

Oooooh, those are some FINE baskets at T.J.’s! Good for you – on the chocolate and the walk! I’m gonna have to look up Burke Lake so I can envision it. Isn’t walking with a friend the best??

  10. I don’t avoid them. Enjoying 1 meal/snack daily seems to work fine with me. Halo-halo is tempting–it’s shaved ice with ice cream, purple yam, coconut jelly, white beans, brown beans, flan, etc. Those are good. It’s hard to avoid them often so I just let myself indulge once a day. It seems to work–I seek them once a day, and they seem to avoid me like plague afterwards.
