Are you ready to shake it on this fine Wednesday????
You remember all the energy that death and mayhem sucked out of me? It’s ba-a-ack!
There’s gardens to water…
Baby Girl to play with…
Goals to achieve…
Speaking of goals…this week is my first Life List Club Friday guest post!
That means that this Friday, I’m going to be posting at Sonia Madeiros’ beautiful blog, Doing The Write Thing. The magical Anne-Mhairi Simpson will be here weaving her spell on More Cowbell.
Y’all are going to have to double up the love every other Friday from now on because I am finally on deck to post for the Life List Club. Here’s an injection of silliness to help you start revving your engines:
That’s fine some grooviness right there…did you make sure you fully appreciated all those killer 70’s outfits?? Plaid bell bottoms…that’s all I’m sayin’….
Row80 Update:
- Writing for writing’s sake is producing some lovely things.
- Blogging continues to be a joy (about 4-5 times per week)
- I exercised for two hours this week. It wasn’t the goal of three but it was two more hours than I did the week before I set the goal. I’m easing in…
- I wrote two scenes that I’ve been avoiding in my pregnancy memoir. It was only 1000 words but it’s 4 pages more than I had last week and I’m peaceful with that.
What about you? Are you feeling good this week? Are the goals on track? Have you joined the Life List Club yet by publicly posting your goals? Enquiring minds always want to know here at More Cowbell!
Jenny
Consistant progress is a good thing. Well done on the exercise, it is never an issue to ease into things especially if one hasn’t done them for awhile. Best to let the body and mind adjust to the change.
Have a great week Jen!

Hey Jenny, did you miss me?
Way to go with the glass half (two-thirds?) full on the exercise. We set goals and strive to achieve them, but if we always could achieve them, there would be no challenge, and then meeting the goals would mean nothing.
I was ahead for about 20 minutes on Monday night, and now I am behind. Some of it was readjusting schedule, some of it was life, and some (ahem, most) was me deciding to fiddle with a new website look, ’cause, yeah, I sooooo needed to do that right now. Sheesh.
Hope you like it!
Thanks to my blog tour hosts, I’ve been on time every morning! Thank you Jessica, Joan and Elaine, for yanking me out of bed, so to speak, and putting me out there!

So, you were ahead for 20 glorious minutes??? So impressed (and jealous!)…your website will certainly keep you from doing THAT again any time soon. ๐

I had a great flashback watching the Soul Train video! I think some of those women’s shoe styles are back — wedges! Looks like you’re making real progress with your ROW80 goals, and it’s awfully hard to stay on track with a little one at home. Of course, you want to take time to enjoy her as well! Best wishes.

Awesome, Julie. Do you have a cute pair of wedges in your closet? You gotta get those out and shake your booty to Soul Train in them. I posted today’s blog late at night in my office and I just shudder to think of someone reviewing those security tapes we me doing the Soul Train up and down the hallway.

Really diggin’ the Soul Train clip, Jenny! Groovy, baby.

Good job on the consistency and thanks for the fun, positive attitude. That’s one of my favorite things about your blog. LMAO on the video. Always love the 70s and 80s fashions.
This week has been about writing my query letter and synopsis. Not fun, but necessary.
Looking forward to your guest posts!

Thanks, Stacy. I like to have fun (like you couldn’t tell!). I watched that video three times myself – those fashions kicked ass and made me laugh.
Query letter and synopses are the worst but, like you said, necessary. I really liked a post that Nicholas Spark wrote on query letters – I find him and Nathan Bransford the most inspiring on that subject. If you Google them, you’ll find the links.
Let us know how it goes, OK?

SHAKE IT!
Yes, I was yelling. Way to go!

Soooo funny that you should say that, Amber. That was my first pick – “Shake your groove thing. Shake your groove thing – yeah, yeah. Shake it. SHAKE IT…” Sorry, got caught up. But when I went to go put in a link of the timeless Peaches and Herb, the Soul Train videos came up. With the line dancing. And the OUTFITS. I’m a sucker for those vintage Soul Train smooth line dances. You add bell-bottoms to that? Fuggedaboutit!

Shakira in gold lame pants AND Soul Train? This was SUCH a blast to wake up to!
Great job on the exercise front — I’ve been easing back in myself, and cursing the fact that I’m not nearly as fast on my glider as I used to be. But since I really haven’t used it in weeks, baby steps are in order.
Yay on the other progress too, and I will be looking forward to the double dose of Life List Club awesomeness that is coming on Friday. I finally made my own list of goals, enshrined on its very own page on my blog, and I’m SO excited about that.
Have a wonderful rest of the week!

Hey, Jenny! Phew! It’s good to be back. I got knocked off your list. Have not YET put up my LifeList b/c I await the launch gala for my blog. Which segues nicely into…
Nothing.
Goals achieved in the last month: became an official RWA Contest Slut, set up appt for head shot for new blog, brought up author FB and established Twitter, wrote copy for new blog, and thought about WIP. Worked out scene kink in my head, so I’m ready to go after on-line brouhaha moves to “to-done” list. Spent far too much time twiddling on the net and far too little time keeping on track with 4 times weekly workouts. Ruh-roh. Got at least two in every week, tho.
Good for you on the exercise. I MUST get back in my routine. And, just one niggling question I must ask. You didn’t count Friday’s Lovefest in your weekly one hour exercise tally, right?

Thanks for the snort-my-coffee laugh from the last paragraph of that comment, Gloria. No, I didn’t count Friday!
It’s great to have you back – I checked and you’re still on the subscriber list as usual. Did you change anything on your side of things?
Laura Drake was an RWA Contest Slut this last year and it worked out great for her. Good luck on all your scores. Setting up a blog is hard work. I had Kristen Lamb and a posse of about 15 classmates to help and it was STILL hard. Give yourself some room to breathe in the process…trust me, it will help.

I still haven’t gotten off my arse and added exercise to my goals (really need to do that) – although I will be doing plenty of booty shaking tonight when I go and seee GleeLive3D (am going to the get and dance session at the movies and I can’t wait!) Perhaps that counts as exercise?? ๐
Hope you do well with your goals next week!

Wow, great goals and great progress!
Exercise has been added to my goals, too, as I had totally stopped going to the gym. I eased back in at one time a week, moved up to two, and in the past three weeks, I’ve done three times per week! I’m liking how good I feel.
Here’s my update:

Ooooh…American Bandstand! God I loved those two shows…I was young enough that I didn’t get to watch them that much but the dancing was just COOL. And now we have YouTube!!

The more I write, the more I want to write, so I love your comment about writing for writing’s sake. I love blogging… I think it’s made me a better writer and stretched what I feel comfortable writing about. Hope your good vibe continues!

Tia,
As you can tell, that’s been my experience. In my Life List Club post, I totally said, “I Heart Blogging!” It has made my writing experience come alive because it’s so immediate. I really think it’s because I write short stuff better than long articles.
If you get over here again soon, I’d love to hear about your writing comfort zone and whether you are more cozy with the short or long pieces.
